Christchurch earthquake: AgResearch Lincoln campus

Tuesday 22 February 2011
Christchurch experienced a severe earthquake this afternoon. Thankfully we have received no reports of staff being injured, and the Lincoln campuses appear relatively undamaged.

Due to the widespread impact in the Canterbury region, the decision has been taken to close the Lincoln campuses to enable staff to attend to their families and any personal circumstances. A decision on whether to re-open the campus on Thursday the 24th will be made tomorrow afternoon by 3.00pm.

Emergency services have requested that only essential phone calls are made to people based in the region. Staff in Lincoln will be contacted using a text service this afternoon and will be kept updated and asked to keep in contact via this service, or with their managers until normal phone services resume.

Further updates will be posted here as they become available.

The government has established a hotline for those seeking information or advice. The number is 0800 779 997.

Our thoughts are with our Lincoln colleagues at this time.
