Heavy metal removal using wool filters
The chemical make-up of wool gives it excellent metal absorbing properties. Wool is a renewable, biodegradable resource that is free of the monomer and hydrocarbon residues found in some resin and activated carbon media.AgResearch has developed a palette of chemical modifications to obtain the optimum absorption of specific heavy metals. The modified wools are particularly effective at removing the last traces of metals from very dilute solutions.
Wool enhanced by these modifications could be the basis of effective filtration products.
