Relationship steers useful research

A collaboration to reinvigorate the sheep industry using market-appropriate research has started between AgResearch and New Zealand Merino.

New Zealand Merino, a private company owned by PGG Wrightson and New Zealand Merino Growers, buys and sells wool, markets it overseas and encourages innovation.

Chief Executive John Brakenridge says New Zealand Merino is interested in research optimising all marketable facets of sheep.

“This collaboration is an examplar for both industry and AgResearch because it’s strongly market-led and strategic in its aspirations, with clear pathways from research to commercialisation,” Mr Brakenridge says.
