A research article published earlier this year implied that urinary nitrogen from dairy cows may have a negligible role to play in nitrogen leaching from grazed pasture systems like those in New Zealand.

This contradicted much of the published peer-reviewed scientific evidence where nitrogen leaching from urine patches and grazed pastures has been measured and documented.

Our scientists have now responded to this article mentioned above, with a letter to the New Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research that draws on the published evidence. Read it here(external link).
